Good digital Identity is identification that is verified and authenticated to a high degree of assurance over digital channels, is unique, is established with individual consent, and protects user privacy and ensures control over personal data.

All over the world, a growing number of organizations from the public and private sectors are advancing systems that establish and verify digital identities for people, devices and other entities. Yet there is a clear different between Digital ID and Good Digital Identity. Our mission encompasses technology complimented with policies and practices to best process or use identity-related data in ways that empower individuals without infringing on their freedoms or causing them harm to provide true good digital identity.

Digital ID vs Good Digital Identity

Digital ID - A digital certificate. To digitally sign an Office document, must have a current (not expired) digital certificate. Digital certificates make it possible for digital signatures to be used as a way to authenticate digital information. Often only works if a person has a documented physical ID e.g Drivers License, Passport

Good Digital Identity - Unique, high-assurance, multidimensional, consent-based, digitally verifiable identification, with a range of possible credentials (eg, biometrics, passwords, smart devices). Works securely whether you have an existing ID or not.
